Short Story: Washing Up Spaghetti

Theo and Mummy lived in a tiny flat in Hammersmith in London. Currently, Mr and Mrs Ahmed lived downstairs and Theo and Mummy lived upstairs. Theo and Mummy were a happy, tiny family.

One day Mummy and Theo had spaghetti bolognaise for dinner. It was delish. There was some left over as always and as always Mummy said, 'I've made enough to feed an army.' After they had eaten the spaghetti, Theo, being a good boy, helped Mummy take the plates into the kitchen. Mummy then said, 'Next time I will not waste so much food when I cook. I will save some money then.' Then they both put on their aprons and Theo got his little grey chair to stand on so that he could reach the sink.
Mummy was just about to scrape the spaghetti in to the bin when her mobile phone started to ring. Mummy said, 'This call is important, I won't be long.' Theo looked at Mummy talking on the phone. She looked serious and said, 'uh huh' a lot. He decided it would be long.
Theo looked at the plates and decided that he would wash up all by himself. He washed the plates and cups and knives and forks. They looked nice and shiny as the sun danced on them. When he'd finished, he began to reach for the plug in the murky water when suddenly he felt something slimy on his fingers. It was a long piece of dangly spaghetti. It looked nice and clean without any sauce on, so Theo put it carefully next to the shiny forks.
Soon he had washed up all the spaghetti. It was in a little pile. Mummy would be pleased as she did'nt need to buy any more spaghetti now.
Theo, then began to wonder where his blue train was, as he'd like to put that in the bubbles too. Just then mummy said to the phone, 'OK thank you, bye.' She looked serious, but then her face lit up when she saw Theo had done the washing up all by himself.
Mummy said, 'Oh thank you my beautiful boy.....,' then she stopped and said astonished, 'you have even washed up the spaghetti.' And then Mummy laughed and laughed. 'I love you so much,’ said Mummy and she gave Theo a big kiss.
